New Product Development

Determining the optimal set of features for a new product or product line extension that will be accepted by the market with financial success, can be a very challenging task to say the least. TAPPA Group has significant experience with the use of the  SIMALTO technique that has been used successfully for many new product introductions. SIMALTO stands for Simultaneous Multi-attribute Tradeoff Analysis. There are a number of techniques available for testing 2 or 3 features on a product with a few levels in each. SIMALTO is particularly useful for testing the optimal feature set for a product where there are multiple features, 4 or more, each of which has multiple levels.  TAPPA’s clients have had significant success using SIMALTO to optimally design packaging and foodservice equipment and determining the price points that could be justified for specific features. TAPPA also provides clients with input for product development projects through interviews with trade factors in the market, sometimes without the conduct of a formal SIMALTO project.
